Fisher Cave at Meramec State Park

This tour of Fisher Cave at Meramec State Park was a bit off the beaten path for those of us in the Great Rivers Chapter, but well worth it as part of our initial training on karst environments. Our MDC guide pointed out cave salamanders, bats, bear claw marks, where an underground river used to flow, and more. We were all particularly surprised by just how long those stalactites and stalagmites had been growing (an inch every 200 years!).
