Tower Grove Park Community Programs
November, 2024

It was a beautiful day for bird watching at Tower Grove Park! Education Program Coordinator Luke Scott led K-2 students from Peabody Elementary School in a two hour program called Birding Adventure. The students participated in an interactive slide show presentation on birds they might expect to find in Tower Grove Park, then used their creativity to design their own sample birds. They explored with a provided set of binoculars, learning how to hold, adjust, and focus them, before heading outside to see what they could discover.
Tower Grove Park offers regular nature-centered field trips to area schools and community groups. Offered this fall are the Birding Adventure program, Living in Harmony, and Watershed Wonders. The programs are written and directed by park staff. They utilize Missouri Master Naturalists and other community members as volunteer educators to assist with implementing the lessons and interacting with the students during the field trip. It's an amazing opportunity to get outside on a beautiful day and share with kids the excitement of discovering nature.
